Gothika
Sexed up Electronica
Interviewer: Jezus & Suzej
Answered by: Yoshiki #449 (Synthesizer, Programming)
Gothika is a electro/gothic band from Japan band that
practices a very varied style as many bands of that country, in its case
they mix with success the electronics, wave and the jrock muic, everything
submerged into gothic / dark atmospheres. Lyrically they generally have a
sexual and perverted focus, that which is captured in their debut album
"120 Days of Sodom". At the present time the band is becoming relatively
well-known for Europe, with live shows in countries like Spain, Finland,
Russia, Belgium, Germany... product of it in some days they will play in
the famous Wave Gotik Treffen 2008. Without more words here offer you a
brief interview that I achieved with Yoshiki.
Hello there....
your first words for the Peruvian and LatinAmerican people...
Hello. We're GOTHIKA from Tokyo. We're playing some extraordinary electro
music.
We're so interested in play gig in south America area. If many request
came from there, we can play there in near future easier.
To begin, tell me. Why did you change your name Euthanasie to Gothika?
Because the name EUTHANASIE made some serious trouble in some european
countries. We haven't know this name has such a big problem. And we
decided to change the name. And the name "GOTHIKA" was the best word for
explain my music imaginations.
"120 days of sodom is your debut album! The title makes allusion
to the Marquis de Sade. Do you feel highly influenced by this writer?
Did you watch the sick movie by Pasolini (Italy)?
Yeah, we got the this title from the movie of Pasolini. We influenced by
this movie. And the one song from our album was fitting with this sickness
world.
Your slogan is: "Sexed up Electronica!!". How so important the sex is
for you?
One of our fans in Japan explained our style like that first. And we
thought "That's cool!!". So we are using this word as our slogan.
In Latin america the anime is popular, oh yeah.. but with respect to
the sex, are you addicted to the Hentai? Some series that you would
recommend us to see?
I don't know the specific title....But I'm recently interested in some
Doujin CG animation.
The version "Night in my hands" (Sara Nox ) is very interesting, how
did you decide to add elements of Japanese music?
Include the elements of Japanese music to this song was the order from
Sara. I didn't need a lot of times for make this remix, because of it was
really natural arrangement for us.
Are
there festivals of Gothic music in Japan? What can you tell us about the
TOKYO DARKCASTLE?
Unfortunately Japanese gothic market is not so big. And we don't have big
festival... Tokyo Dark Castle is the high quality gothic club event.
What Japanese and foreigners bands have influenced Gothika? Some new
Japanese band that you would recommend us to listen? What do you say about
Moix Dix Mois, Phantasmagoria or Blood?
We influenced by some european music.Industrial, electro and Ambient stuff...
I can't say about the V-kei bands. Moix Dix Mois is playing nice music.
Many visualkei bands like to dress as a woman, do you know which the
origin of this attitude is? Uhmmm If you were women, what do you think
that you would be making now?
Basically Japanese people are thinking these style are made by X Japan. If I
was woman, I wanted to be stripper or prostitute...
What do you think about the following topics?:
Religion: God
Bondage: SM
Sex: Destruction and creation
Drugs: Illusion
Sake : Moderate degeneration
Changing topic, tell me. which are the expectations of your live show
in the Wave Gotik Treffen 2008?
"The gothic band never come from Japan." Will be end.
Thanks you for your time.. blessings, curses.. last words...
