 AdorDorath
From Czech Republic Ador Dorath comes, a band of many shades, guided inside the melodic metal with slight dark and black metal elements, its music allowed them to win a Grammy in its country (ard Rock category ). Here this brief conversation with them.
Hails, to begin, tell us a brief history of the
band.
L: Our first song was made in 1998, so since this year begins the true ADORDORATH. Before there was the just the project of metal fans that tried to play the music of their favourite bands…but as copying was not satisfying we started to create our own songs under the name ADORDORATH. We have two albums debut “Adon nin edeleth Ador Dorath” and second “Symbols”. We have a lot of concerts and we were happy to play with such stars as Arcturus, Mortiis, Cannibal Corpse or Dimmu Borgir.
Your new album "Symbols" is interesting and it has a good mixture of furious rhythms, operistic chants and an instrumentation something orchestral. Are you happy with the result? How was it the reaction of the people and press
means?
I:We`re happy you like itJ…of course there is always something that could be better but generally we are satisfied. The reaction was very good with few exceptions of course. We got award - something like Czech Grammy in the Hard rock category…
Do you like Dimmu Borgir or Old Man's Child? Some musical structures remind me a lot to those two bands.
L:Yes, they are great bands but to tell the truth we are growing up from our metal roots…JI mean, we are listening different music now. We are influenced by them in a way that at the beginning of AD we wanted to be like them. We are definitely not copying them or something. As for me I have no idea what are these groups playing
now.
 The "Symbols" slogan is: "Never doubt the truth of symbols, They are the only things man has with which to orient himself in the world", How does this fit in the man's history/evolution?
4.I: It could be in the way that our world has the short memory and we forgot the things that our ancestors hid in symbols…I`m not sure with evolution but it definitely deals with things that are common to all
mankind.
"Mountain" is a very different song, uhmm. Are Rammstein or Samael some influences for their musical
composition?
I: Ramstein and Sammael are groups that came with original music, we took it as a possibility to move our music into the new dimension. But if you listen to it carefully it doesn`t have much in common with these groups – it just remind of it…I think that the composition is somewhere else, it is still ADORDORATH.
L: This style enabled to create song full of energy it is very dynamic.. it was a nice experiment the singing and playing differs from what we are used to..
The world situation at the present time is chaotic, Do you think that we go to our own self destruction? What do you tell us about your song
"Limits"?
6.I: I believe that although there are lots of problems in our world, social or religious, it is still not the way to the destruction. I hope that the civilization will find the way to avoid it. Well it is hard to believe, maybe it is quite
naïve..but still, I'm optimistic. "Limits" is more about conscience - clear conscience. Human acts should go hand in hand with it.
Are you interested in the neo paganism? What attitudes would you rescue of your
ancestors?
L: Well in Europe its very often connected with nacionalism and feelings of superiority and that is something I can`t agree with. There are bands like that…they are proclaiming themselves as pure Slavonic…that is really stupid. Our music is about roots of all mankind. In lyrics I tried to touch the archetypes that speak to all of us, it is not dictating anything it is more about feelings and imagination. This is the way to our ancestors.
 Talk us about of the current Ador Dorath's line up, hobbys, favorite bands, job, etc.
L: AD are Ivoš Doseděl-leading voc. and screams, Lenka Machová- female voc., Martin Roženek- keyboards and synthetizers, Kamil Pfeffer- guitar, Kamil Kottek- bass guitar, Zdeněk Čepička- drums and Krystian Danel – violoncello. As I mentioned we tend to listen different music – classical, jazz, ehtno, reggae…( the inspiration is everywhere) and in our ordinary life we don’t look like the members of the metal bandJ… bass and guitar players have families, we go to work, I`m a teacher for example..keys player has a recording studio, Ivoš is still studying…also to be a teacher…
You speak to us about Czech Republic, Do you think that it is a good place to live? Where you would like to live?
I: Well, Peru would be nice…Czech republic is a small country, but I think that that the problems will be similar everywhere..you can`t escape
pollution, globalization…
Which is the current situation of the alternative musical genres in your country (metal, dark, gothic)? What bands do you recommend us to listen?
I:It`s still deep underground, but there are quite lot of groups dealing with the alternative
music. I will definitely recommend our friends DEPRESY they are Slovak but we used to be one country… from Czech SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY are very good…
